This one is said to be a darker drama in the same vein as “Match Point.” A French cast has supposedly been assembled, with some subtitled dialogue most likely set to be used in the film. There are no additional plots details, or a title, about this new film set in France. I’ve been tracking this project for the better part of a year now, and I’ll have more on the film whenever I get more info. This would be Allen’s 50th feature-film as a director so you just know that he will want to knock it out of the park. On a side note, it irks me to no end when people talk about Woody Allen’s cancelation in the US and say something to the effect of “well, it’s not like he was making good movies anyways.” No, he was. Yes, “Rifkins Festival” is probably one of the lesser movies of his career, but these last twenty years Allen was hitting a few doubles and triples every few releases; Blue Jasmine, Match Point, Wonder Wheel, Irrational Man, Midnight in Paris and Cafe Society are all worthy late-career gems.
