It’s exactly what I expected. A flat looking but, potentially, immersive family drama. You can kind of see what this will be all about. There’s none of the mind-bending parallel realities of “The Father.” This is a drama that will rely heavily on emotional gut punches. I’m perfectly fine with that, it’s definitely “Oscar-bait”. You can also now understand why some of the pickier fests (Telluride, NYFF) may have possibly passed up on it.
