Why am I mentioning “The Gray Man”? Because, it’s the most expensive Netflix movie ever made. Estimates have the budget at anywhere between $220-250 million. Now, less than two months before release, there is finally a trailer. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who were Gods at Disney/Marvel for completing the MCU with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” In 2019, they released “Cherry,” starring Tom Holland. It got trashed by critics — 37% on Rotten Tomatoes. Is “The Gray Man” going to be Netflix’s “Waterworld”? We won’t really know for a while after it’s released since Netflix tends to be very sketchy and selective with the viewing numbers they release. The film does have an A-List cast; Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, and Alfre Woodard. It’s possible that the layoffs may have had to do with what Netflix might consider to be a looming disaster incoming with “The Gray Man,” all I know is that they haven’t been promoting the film at all.
