Yannis Vasileiou Interviewed Skolimowski for the media outlet Lifo and asked him about the current status of “The Palace.” Skolimowski told him that Polanski is in the final editing stages of the film, and that it “is almost ready”. He also stated that, from what he’s seen, it’s a “really fun movie”. So, that may be another reason why “The Palace” skipped the fall film festivals. It probably won’t get released in any country this year. Also, that original Italian release date in January has been changed. I am very skeptical of a Berlin bow, even though “The Ghost Writer” premiered there in 2010. Things have changed politically for Polanski since then and I can’t see the current Berlinale selection committee picking his film up. Cannes on the other hand … Thierry Fremaux will have a bit of a headache this year with new films from Polanski and Woody Allen potentially being submitted for inclusion at the 76th edition of the festival.
