Those pesky voters within the Writers Guild of America have decided that 29 of the 30 best written movies of the 21st century are American. The sole exception? 2019’s “Parasite” (#4). You gotta laugh. Hey, don’t get me wrong, the below are a mighty fine bunch of films, but the all-American bent is blasphemous. I don’t see “A Separation,” “Y Tu Mamá También,” “Pain and Glory,” “Burning,” “Toni Erdmann,” “Cache” “Oldboy” and many more scripts worthy of the top 30. Don’t even get me started on why “Jojo Rabbit” made the list, let alone at #28?! Of course, this will be contentious, naming anything the “Greatest” of any time period is meant to be disagreed upon.If I had a say then “Mulholland Dr”, “Zodiac”, “Manchester by the Sea”, and “Inside Llewyn Davis” would all be much higher.
