Surprise! The film is partly shot in black and white. Some folks are already complaining about Ana de Armas’ accent. Who cares. It’s also wonderful to see that NC-17 rating stamped on the screen. A September 23rd release date has also been announced which means Netflix is semi-burying this one when it comes to their awards campaigning. It also means there won’t really be a festival run beyond the big three (Venice/TIFF/Telluride) if they even choose to show it. If you remember, I had reported last September that “Blonde” had been accepted by Albert Barbera to compete at the Venice Film Festival DESPITE his reservations on the film.
