The visuals look great, but Ana de Armas is struggling with that American accent. That will be a bothersome qualm for the purists that wanted a 100% authentic feeling biopic. The Cuba-born actress has mentioned in interviews that she spent 9 months working on this accent. And yet, there were rumors, dating back to early last year, that they were thinking of dubbing some of her dialogue. Now we know why. I did find much of the trailer to be quite eerie. The accent conundrum was probably very hard to avoid since they decided to cast a Latina playing an American icon — It didn’t bother me that much. One thing’s for sure, this won’t be your typical Marilyn Monroe biopic, it’s an NC-17 film directed Andrew Dominik. Chayse Irvin’s smoky cinematography definitely gives off a vibe, but wouldn’t it have been better to just shoot the whole thing in monochrome? Contribute Hire me
